Climate-smart Agriculture
Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) is a farming strategy that helps farmers improve the productivity of their land while reducing the impact of climate change on their crops. It combines traditional agricultural practices with new technologies and techniques to help farmers manage the risks associated with extreme weather and climate variability. CSA practices include soil and water conservation, improved nutrient management, water and energy efficiency, conservation agriculture, sustainable intensification, integrated crop and livestock management, and agroforestry. CSA is instrumental in helping farmers adapt to a changing climate and build their resilience to climate shocks and stresses. This, in turn, helps ensure food security and reduce poverty in some of the world's most vulnerable regions. Additionally, CSA can help countries meet commitments under the Paris Agreement to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture.
