Overview
Agricultural extension refers to the systems and services that provide farmers and rural communities with knowledge, skills, and information to improve agricultural practices, productivity, and sustainability. Research published in this journal examines agricultural extension through multiple dimensions, including the preparation and perspectives of agricultural graduates who will serve as future extension agents and advisors, particularly in developing contexts such as Sudan where sustainable agriculture depends on well-trained professionals entering the field. The journal also addresses the practical challenges that extension services must help farmers navigate, such as managing soil fertility dynamics and controlling crop diseases like Xanthomonas wilt in traditional farming systems, exemplified by enset-based agriculture in Ethiopia. These studies reflect the critical role of agricultural extension in bridging scientific knowledge with on-the-ground farming realities, supporting both the human capacity development needed to deliver extension services and the technical problem-solving that extension agents facilitate. Understanding agricultural extension is essential for strengthening food security, promoting sustainable farming methods, and ensuring that agricultural education translates into practical improvements in diverse farming communities.
