Overview
Environmental sustainability is the capacity to meet present human needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own. It centres on conserving natural resources such as water, air, and soil, protecting biodiversity, reducing pollution and waste, and shifting toward renewable energy and responsible patterns of production and consumption. As a cross-cutting goal, it links ecology, agriculture, urban planning, and human behaviour in the effort to keep economic and social activity within ecological limits. Research relevant to environmental sustainability across OpenAccessPub journals reflects this breadth. Studies examine insect-based foods for their nutritional benefits and lower environmental footprint, conceptual approaches to sustainable urban development, and the application of permaculture practices to improve sustainable agriculture. Further work investigates soil fertility dynamics in sustainable farming systems, the assessment of environmentally responsible, health-oriented behaviours among students, and the socio-cultural dimensions of environmental conservation. Together these contributions span food systems, agriculture, urban development, soil management, and the human behaviours that shape environmental outcomes. This page gathers peer-reviewed, open-access research relevant to environmental sustainability.
