Autoimmune Disease Diagnosis
Autoimmune diseases are illnesses caused by an abnormal response of the body’s immune system, which mistakenly attacks and destroys healthy body tissues. Diagnosis of autoimmune diseases can be difficult as they can mimic symptoms of other conditions, and symptoms can vary greatly between individuals. Diagnosis typically involves lab tests to rule out other conditions, and then antibodies in the blood which can point to the presence of an autoimmune disease. Early diagnosis is important in helping to manage and treat autoimmune diseases, as the most effective treatments can be tailored to the individual.
