Enzyme Entrapment

Enzyme entrapment is a technique used to stabilize enzymes and protect them from environmental fluctuations. It involves using materials such as polymeric matrices to physically or chemically immobilize enzymes. This entrapment process enables enzymes to be stored for prolonged periods of time, which makes them more suitable for industrial applications. The immobilized enzymes have better temperature stability, which increases their activity and also helps to reduce their denaturation. Furthermore, enzyme entrapment increases enzyme productivity and also reduces the need for costly enzyme purification. As a result, this technique has become an important tool in the industrial biotechnology field.
