Overview
Sustainable development is a concept that emphasizes human progress while respecting the planet's limited resources. It involves economic, social, and environmental aspects of development, with the aim of achieving balance between the three areas. Sustainable development focuses on ensuring that current needs are met without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It calls for global collaboration to address climate change, social inequalities, and other environmental concerns. It also seeks to maximize the potential of current resources, reduce global poverty and improve health, education and livelihood outcomes for all. Sustainable development is used to shape policies and practices in sectors such as energy, transportation, agriculture, industry and urban development. It forms the basis for much of the work of international organizations, governments and NGOs in addressing the most pressing challenges facing humanity.
