Climate Change
Climate Change is a complex phenomenon which is largely driven by human activities, primarily emissions of Greenhouse Gases (GHGs) into the atmosphere. It is one of the biggest environmental challenges of today, with far-reaching consequences on ecosystems, economies and human health. Climate Change is causing sea levels to rise, desert areas to expand, more frequent and severe heat waves, and more frequent and intense extreme weather events, among other consequences. Scientists have concluded that the only way to avoid the worst effects of Climate Change is to reduce and eventually eliminate GHG emissions, as well as to adapt to the impacts of a changing climate. The Paris Agreement, adopted in 2015, is a global agreement which aims to address Climate Change by limiting global temperature rise to a safe level and keeping it there.
