Histamine Release

Histamine is a chemical released in the human body during an allergic reaction. It triggers the body's inflammatory reactions and is responsible for the symptoms of an allergic reaction such as sneezing, itching and redness. The release of histamine is controlled by a family of proteins called the histamine receptors, and its regulation is critical for normal functioning of the immune system. Histamine release is also involved in the control of inflammation, vascular tone and pain processing, as well as some types of immune response. Histamine is used clinically to diagnose and treat allergies, as well as in the treatment of some cancers and other inflammatory diseases. Histamine has significant implications for human health, and further research into its mechanisms and effects is essential.
