Estrogen

Estrogen is an important hormone, mainly produced by the female ovaries, that is essential for the development and maintenance of female-specific sexual characteristics and reproductive health. Estrogens play a key role in the regulation of the menstrual cycle, the development and maintenance of the uterus, and the development of secondary sexual characteristics such as breast development, body shape, and even behavior. High levels of estrogen can lead to a variety of conditions, including endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and infertility. Estrogen is also used in hormone replacement therapy, a form of medical treatment used to treat symptoms of menopause, and to treat some forms of breast cancer.
