Horseradish Peroxidase
Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is an enzyme that catalyzes the oxidation of organic substrates by the use of hydrogen peroxide as a substrate. This enzyme is commonly used in biochemical research, as it produces a high amount of oxidized hydrogen peroxide products that can be used for different applications. HRP is often used in western blotting, where it is used to label and detect targeted proteins. HRP is also frequently used in immunohistochemistry, a technique used to identify and localize proteins within a tissue sample. Other potential applications include diagnostics, immunoassays, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA). HRP has been widely studied due to its potential in different areas of biochemistry, biotechnology and molecular biology.
