Paleogenetics
Paleogenetics is the interdisciplinary scientific field that studies the genetic material of organisms from the past. It combines elements from archaeology, anthropology, evolutionary biology, and biochemistry. Paleogenetics enables researchers to uncover the genetic history of organisms and species, including changes that occurred over time and the emergence of new species. Through the analysis of ancient DNA, researchers can gain insights into the relationship between different species, how populations developed over time, how genetic mutations can lead to different traits, and how diseases were transmitted through generations. Its applications range from understanding how humans evolved to helping to protect endangered species and conserve resources.
