Overview
Mping is an open-source mobile application developed by scientists, which monitors and maps rainfall. It is an important tool for meteorological data collection that can be used to improve the accuracy and timeliness of weather forecasting. The app enables users to record and track rainfall and other weather patterns in their local area. By uploading this data to the Mping platform, users can build a comprehensive view of weather patterns that can be used for drought monitoring, agricultural management, and other applications. This type of data collection can be particularly useful in remote areas where weather information is hard to come by, as well as in areas with limited or no access to standard weather stations. Mping provides a tool to better utilize the power of citizen science and help us to better prepare for extreme weather events in the future.
