Molecular Pathology
Molecular Pathology is a branch of science that combines molecular biological techniques and traditional pathology in order to study, diagnose and treat diseases at the molecular level. It is used in a wide range of medical fields, such as cancer diagnosis, cardiovascular disease, infectious diseases, and inherited genetic disorders. Molecular Pathology enables pathologists to identify and characterize molecular mechanisms underlying disease progression, providing insight on how to treat diseases more effectively and personalize treatment based on each patient’s unique genetic profile. By elucidating the molecular and cellular processes that trigger or lead to disease, Molecular Pathology can provide invaluable information which can be used to develop novel therapeutic approaches, improved diagnostics and targeted treatments.
