Genomics

Overview

Genomics is the study of the structure, function, evolution and mapping of genomes. Genomes are the complete sets of genetic material found in an organism. Genomics provides important insights into the study of life, from the level of individual genes to complex traits. It allows scientists to identify, analyze, and modify genetic elements of an organism, and to use this knowledge to improve health, agriculture, and other aspects of life. Genomics research is fundamentally transforming our understanding of the living world, and its applications are helping to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals, the sustainability of our planet, and the productivity of our economy.
