Parasympathetic Nervous System
The Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS) is a wide-reaching and influential branch of the autonomic nervous system. It serves to regulate physiological processes such as digestion and long-term heart rate control, as well as influencing functions such as sleep, respiration, and the release of hormones. When the body perceives that it is in a safe or relaxed state, the PNS will naturally take control, promoting a state of calm and balance. This is particularly beneficial in cases of chronic stress and fatigue, allowing for improved mental and physical health. Therefore, the Parasympathetic Nervous System is essential for the maintenance of homeostasis and overall wellness.
