Skin Cancers
Skin cancer is a malignant growth of the skin caused by damage to the skin cells caused by sun exposure. It is the most common form of cancer in the US and accounts for more than half of all cancers. Early detection and treatment of skin cancer can be lifesaving. Skin cancer can appear as small, shiny lumps or can be flat and scaly. Most types of skin cancer are treated with surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and/or targeted therapy. There are various prevention measures you can take to reduce your risk of skin cancer, such as avoiding long sun exposure, wearing protective clothing, and regularly undergoing skin examinations.
