Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation is the darkening of an area of skin due to an increase in melanin production. It is most commonly seen in areas that are exposed to sunlight, such as the face, neck, shoulders, and hands. Hyperpigmentation can be caused by a variety of conditions, including sun exposure, genetics, hormonal changes, and the use of certain medications. It can also be caused by skin conditions like acne, rosacea, and melasma. Treatment options for hyperpigmentation include topical skin lighteners, chemical peels, laser treatments, and cryotherapy. Treatments should be tailored to the individual and their particular skin condition. In some cases, hyperpigmentation may also be treated with lifestyle changes such as avoiding sun exposure and/or using protective clothing. Hyperpigmentation is a common skin condition that can be addressed with the right treatments.
