Overview

Dermatology Acquired and Inherited Bullous Disorders are a group of diseases that cause blisters and superficial skin damage. These disorders are caused by the malfunctioning of proteins in the body’s cells, or the prescription of certain medications, exposing the patient to blistering and peeling of the skin. These diseases can be inherited or acquired, and range in severity from mild to life-threatening. Early diagnosis and treatment are essential for management of these diseases and helping to prevent further damage to the skin. Dermatologists are able to diagnose these disorders based on the patient’s medical history and a physical examination of the skin. Treatment often consists of topical medications or even systemic medications that are used to reduce inflammation and heal the skin. In addition, lifestyle changes, such as reducing stress and using protective clothing, can help to minimize the effects of these diseases.
