Overview
Angiosarcoma is a rare and highly aggressive type of cancer that arises from the inner lining of blood vessels and lymph vessels. It is most commonly found in the skin, deep soft tissue and in the tissue surrounding organs. It is most commonly seen in the scalp, neck and face, although it can occur anywhere in the body. It can also develop in a variety of organs including the heart, lungs and liver. Treatment is usually a combination of therapies including surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. Unfortunately, angiosarcoma is often resistant to treatment and has a very poor prognosis. Early detection is crucial to improve the outcome and ultimately save lives.
