Overview

Anxiety medication is a type of medication prescribed to treat anxiety disorders, such as generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, and panic disorder. These medications may include antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Generally, these medications work by targeting the brain chemistry that causes anxiety. For some people, anxiety medications can provide relief from symptoms of anxiety and help them live a more normal life. However, it is important to note that anxiety medications can have potential side effects and they should be taken with caution and in consultation with a doctor.
