Overview

Surgical treatment in dentistry comprises the operative interventions used to manage disease, restore structure, and rehabilitate the dentition, including extractions and root resections, periodontal and endodontic surgery, ridge and sinus augmentation, and the placement of dental implants. Implant surgery inserts a titanium fixture into the jawbone to provide a secure foundation for prosthetic replacement of missing teeth, often combined with grafting when bone is deficient.
