Overview

Virology is the study of viruses, their structure and function, and their role in causing diseases such as cancer. Viruses are important agents in the development of cancer, and understanding their role can help in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of many human cancers. Virology has revealed some of the mechanisms by which viruses can promote cancer, such as the integration of viral DNA into the host genome or the production of viral proteins that promote cell growth. By understanding these mechanisms, researchers can develop new treatments and preventive strategies to reduce the incidence of cancers caused by viruses.
