Overview

Alkhumra Hemorrhagic Fever Virus (AHFV) is an envelope virus in the genus Phlebovirus. AHFV is a potentially deadly virus found in the Middle East that can cause severe hemorrhagic fever in humans. Its symptoms include severe headache, pain in the abdomen and chest, high fever, and blood in the stools, urine, and vomit. It is spread through the bite of infected sand flies or by handling the tissue of infected animals such as camels, sheep, and goats. AHFV is an important public health concern and is an emerging pathogen in the region, due to its capability of causing fatal disease. It is also important for clinicians to be aware of, to ensure early diagnosis and prompt treatment of AHFV infections. Early diagnosis and proper care are essential for the successful management and control of this virus.
