Overview
Plant roots are an essential part of the plant's structure, responsible for anchoring the plant in the soil and providing the necessary nutrients for growth and development. Plant roots are used to absorb water and minerals from the soil to support photosynthesis, the chemical process by which plants make their own food. Furthermore, plant roots hold essential compounds which help to aid in the soil's fertility and its ability to support plant growth. The presence of plant roots can also help to prevent soil erosion. For these reasons, it is essential to give plants healthy and adequate root systems in order to ensure their growth and survival.
