Plant-Insect Interactions
Plant-insect interactions are a key part of the natural environment, as they enable plants to survive and thrive. These interactions involve a wide variety of actors such as insects, microorganisms, and plants. From the exchange of nutrients and energy to the exchange of defence strategies, these interactions are critical to the health of the environment. In addition, they provide us with sources of food, medicine, and other useful products. Plant-insect interactions also help to regulate populations of both plants and insects, enabling biodiversity and biodiversity-dependent services. As such, plant-insect interactions are essential to keeping our planet healthy and productive.
