Overview
Pancreatic cancer is a type of cancer that affects the pancreas, a small organ located behind the stomach and responsible for producing hormones and enzymes involved in digestion. Pancreatic cancer is a particularly aggressive type of cancer, as it is often asymptomatic in its early stages, making it difficult to diagnose. Treatment usually involves a combination of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation to remove the tumor or slow its growth. Pancreatic cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related death, and its survival rate is among the lowest for all cancers. Early detection and prompt treatment, however, can greatly improve outcomes.
