Ileo-Caecal Resection

Ileo-Caecal Resection is a surgical procedure used to remove a portion of the small intestine, which includes both the ileum and the cecum. It is most often used to treat intestinal complications such as tumors or strictures in these areas. The procedure is performed through an incision in the abdomen, and is followed by the removal and reconnection of the small intestine. Its importance lies in the relief of symptoms, preventing further complications, and in some cases, the removal of cancerous tissues. Additionally, Ileo-Caecal Resection can be used for nutrition management in cases of intestinal adhesions.
