Overview
Crohn's Disease is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that causes inflammation of the lining of the digestive tract, leading to abdominal pain, severe diarrhea, fatigue, weight loss, and malnutrition. Symptoms may range from mild to life-threatening, and can come and go, but there is no cure. Treatment is aimed at reducing inflammation and relieving symptoms, such as with medications and surgery. Early diagnosis and treatment of Crohn’s Disease can help prevent long-term complications, such as the narrowing of the intestine, intestinal perforation and other serious issues. People who suffer from Crohn's Disease can benefit from psychological and dietary support, which can improve their quality of life.
