Overview
Colorectal cancer is a disease in which malignant cancer cells form in the lining of the large intestine and rectum. Screening tests are used to detect and diagnose colorectal cancer in its early stages, when it is most treatable and curable. Screening tests can include colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and stool-based tests. Early detection of colorectal cancer through screening helps improve prognoses and increases the chances of successful treatments.
