Pediatrics and Child Health
Pediatrics and child health is a field of medicine that focuses on the physical, developmental, mental and social health of infants, children, and adolescents from birth to eighteen years. It is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, injuries, and other health issues, as well as promoting and maintaining healthy growth and development of children. The specialty is highly important in enabling children to achieve their full potential, as it focuses on preventative treatments and early intervention to reduce the risk of long-term physical and psychological disabilities. Pediatricians are the primary health care providers for children and can provide a range of services such as growth and development monitoring, immunizations, diagnosis and treatment of childhood illnesses, nutrition guidance and counseling, and preventive healthcare services.
