Learning Disabilities
Learning Disabilities refer to impairments in the ability to acquire, retain and apply knowledge and skills, due to a difficulty in understanding and/or processing information. They can impact one or more areas of a person's life including, reading, writing, mathematics, listening, speaking, social skills and motor skills. Learning Disabilities can vary in severity and affect people of all ages, genders, educational and socioeconomic backgrounds. Early identification and intervention are key in helping individuals affected by Learning Disabilities reach their full potential. Professionals such as, speech-language pathologists, psychologists, teachers, and other health care providers, can build strategies and interventions to help individuals with Learning Disabilities. These strategies include accommodations, compensations, therapies, and interventions tailored to the individual's specific needs.
