Friedreich s Ataxia

Friedreich’s Ataxia (FA) is an inherited, progressive, neurological disorder caused by a gene mutation that leads to nerve damage in the spine and brain. Symptoms of FA include difficulty with balance and coordination, muscle weakness, vision problems, and difficulty speaking. With no cure, treatment focuses on managing the symptoms and slowing down disease progression. Physical, occupational, and speech therapy, along with medications and supportive devices, can help individuals with FA maximize their functional abilities and lead fulfilling lives. Early diagnosis and intervention are critical to managing symptoms and improving quality of life.
