Delinquency

Delinquency is an anti-social behavior, ranging from minor offenses to more serious criminal acts, that has been recognized as a serious problem within societies. It is usually associated with adolescents and is mainly caused by lack of parental guidance, social problems, poverty, or family disorganization. It can lead to many consequences such as decreased academic performance, social problems, and criminal behavior. It is therefore important to identify and treat the root causes of delinquency in order for individuals to become productive members of society. Educators, social workers, and psychologists can help to both prevent and treat delinquency through increased parental involvement, positive development activities, and support for at-risk children.
