Community Based Intervention
A Community Based Intervention (CBI) is an evidence-based practice which focuses on promoting health and well-being of a population through community-level involvement and action. CBIs are designed to be tailored to the needs of a particular locality or population, and can involve different approaches aimed at behaviour change, community-level prevention and policy change. CBIs are used to address a range of public health issues such as substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, mental health, injury prevention and nutrition. CBIs have been found to be effective at encouraging behaviour change and community mobilization, and also at improving access to healthcare services. By incorporating community involvement, CBIs have the potential to be cost-effective and sustainable in the long term.
