Gynaecology
Gynaecology is the branch of medicine devoted to the care of the female reproductive system. It is concerned with diagnosing, treating and preventing diseases and disorders in female reproductive organs, such as the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes and vagina. Gynaecological care is an essential part of a woman’s health, from adolescence through to childbearing and beyond. As such, a gynaecologist is an important part of a woman’s health care team, and gynaecology is critical in ensuring a woman’s reproductive health is monitored and maintained. Gynaecology is used to diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions, including endometriosis, infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease, menstrual irregularities, and ovarian and cervical cancer. Gynaecology is also necessary to monitor the health of a woman’s reproductive organs during pregnancy. Gynaecology is a vital part of women's health care and is integral to ensuring a healthy, happy, and safe reproductive life.
