Allergy Testing
Allergy testing is a medical procedure used to assess and diagnose a person's allergic sensitivity to certain substances. It is mostly used to determine what substances may trigger an allergic reaction, and how the person can best avoid them. Testing can include skin prick tests, intradermal skin tests, antibody tests, and provocation tests. Allergy testing can help immensely in understanding and managing allergy symptoms, which may range from mild irritation to life-threatening anaphylaxis. The significance of allergy testing is that it allows doctors to make an accurate diagnosis of allergies and provide an individualized treatment plan which may include medications, lifestyle modifications, and/or avoidance of allergens.
