Rhodococcus
Rhodococcus is a genus of Gram-positive, soil-dwelling bacteria that is known for its ability to degrade a variety of organic and environmental pollutants. This process, known as bioremediation, is the use of living organisms to neutralize or remove environmental contaminants from ecosystems. Rhodococcus species have been used in a variety of bioremediation applications, including the removal of hydrocarbons from contaminated soil, the remediation of organic compounds from wastewater, and the degradation of hazardous chemicals from industrial sites. The ability of Rhodococcus to break down pollutants makes it a valuable tool for environmental remediation and cleaning up contaminated areas.
