Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty that deals with the repair, restoration, and reconstruction of physical defects of form and function in patients with congenital, acquired, or traumatic wounds. The primary goal of plastic surgery is to improve a patient's appearance, self-confidence and quality of life. A plastic surgeon uses specialized techniques to reshape body tissues and skin to improve appearance, and to correct dysfunctional areas of the body caused by birth defects, trauma, burns, and disease. Some commonly performed plastic surgery procedures include facelifts, tummy tucks, rhinoplasty, liposuction, breast augmentation, and breast reduction. While being primarily focused on aesthetic improvements, plastic surgery can also be used to restore function.
