Phytopathology
Phytopathology is the study of plant diseases, including the identification, cause, control, and management of plant disease organisms. It is a multidisciplinary field that uses knowledge from many biological and physical sciences such as plant pathology, genetics, soil science, entomology, plant-microbe interactions, and climate change. Phytopathology has a huge impact in crop production, food safety and quality, and environmental conservation strategies. In addition, the knowledge of phytopathology is essential for the protection of human health through the mitigation of vector-borne diseases. Phytopathology is also used to diagnose and manage diseases of other organisms such as animals, fungi, and bacteria.
