Pathology, Molecular is the branch of pathology that deals with the microscopic investigation of the structure and function of molecules within cells. It is a critical field of medical research and diagnosis as it enables us to understand the basis of many diseases, such as cancer, and to identify and create treatments. Molecular pathology brings together the knowledge of biochemistry, genetics, and cell biology to understand the biology of diseases. It uses a range of tools, such as genetic markers, proteomics, and next-generation sequencing, to analyse tissue and body fluids. This analysis is then used to identify a range of diseases, including genetic disorders and infectious diseases, and to assess the response of a patient to a specific treatment. Molecular pathology is essential to modern healthcare and will continue to be instrumental in delivering improved patient care, providing insights into disease and discovering treatments.
