Pathologists
Pathologists are medical doctors who specialize in diagnosing and understanding diseases and health conditions by examining body tissues, cells and organs. By studying the structure and function of the body, pathologists can identify the cause of a disease and suggest a treatment. Pathologists also play an important role in preventative medicine, such as helping doctors develop screening tests for early identification of disease. Pathology is essential in the diagnosis and treatment of many diseases, from virus and bacterial infections to cancer and autoimmune disorders. Additionally, pathologists often work with researchers to study the effectiveness of new treatments and therapies.
