Molecular Genetics Pathology
Molecular Genetics Pathology is the study of genetic alterations at the level of DNA, RNA, and proteins in order to understand the etiology of diseases. It is of particular significance in the diagnosis and treatment of various genetic disorders, and also for predicting responses to drugs. Molecular Genetics Pathology is employed for the diagnosis and prognosis of an increasing number of diseases such as cancer, cystic fibrosis, Huntington’s disease and many more. In addition, it is also used in forensic medicine and newborn screening. The use of molecular tools in genetic testing has revolutionized the field and enabled the determination of both disease-causing mutations and phenotypes in a fast, cost-effective and accurate manner.
