Group d Streptococci

Group d streptococci are a type of bacteria that belongs to the genus Streptococcus. They are commonly found in the environment and are most often found in the oral cavity, intestine and genital tract of humans. They are usually harmless but can cause infections in certain cases. Group d streptococci can also cause food poisoning and urinary tract infections. These bacteria are important in the understanding of infectious diseases and the development of vaccines and antibiotics, as they are frequently used in laboratory tests to assess the effects of new drugs. They are also used in the diagnosis of various diseases, such as meningitis, pneumonia, and septicemia.
