Cancer
Cancer is a broad term used to describe a large number of diseases characterized by the uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells. Cancer is the second leading cause of death globally and accounts for around 1 in 6 deaths each year. Treatment of cancer can take the form of surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy, depending on the type and stage of the disease. Early diagnosis and treatment of cancer can significantly improve cancer survival outcomes. Research is ongoing to further refine treatments, increase cancer awareness, and find new therapies.
