Bordetella Pertussis

Bordetella Pertussis is a bacterium that is responsible for causing Whooping Cough, a respiratory infection that is highly contagious and can be dangerous, especially in young children. This bacterium is spread through droplets from coughs and sneezes and can survive on surfaces and in the air for prolonged periods of time. Vaccination, good hygiene, and antibiotics are all important for the prevention and treatment of Pertussis. Early recognition and treatment are important, as the infection can cause serious, long-term health problems.
