Chromosome 12

Chromosome 12 is a chromosome present in humans and other primates, and is the second largest human chromosome. It contains over 180 million base pairs of DNA. Chromosome 12 is important for forming proteins necessary for cell growth and health, and carries a number of genes that are associated with diseases and disorders, including cancer, diabetes, and cystic fibrosis. This chromosome is also known to be associated with the development of certain physical characteristics, such as height, eye color, and skin color.
