Overview
Adolescent psychiatry is a subspecialty of psychiatry that focuses on mental health and behavioral issues related to the development and maturation of children and adolescents. It is aimed at addressing psychological, emotional, and behavioral challenges in the pre-teen and teenage years, and works to promote positive mental health, healthy development, and resilience in young people. The aim of adolescent psychiatry is to provide early intervention and treatment services to help adolescents maintain healthy functioning as they become adults. Adolescent psychiatry can help improve mental health and well-being for young people by providing evidence-based therapeutic and pharmacological interventions, as well as preventative care, psychological assessment, and education and support for families.
