Adolescent Mental Health
Adolescent mental health refers to a person's cognitive, social, and emotional well-being in the transition from childhood to adulthood. It is a critical period in a person’s life during which stressors can cause mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety. A variety of factors such as family dynamics, peer pressure, substance use, and academic performance can influence adolescent mental health. It is important to provide adolescents with the skills and support needed to navigate this developmental stage. Effective strategies for promoting positive mental health include encouraging physical activity, implementing social and emotional learning in the classroom, and providing access to mental health services. Adolescent mental health is a critical component of an individual’s overall health and wellbeing and is essential in providing young people with the skills they need to become resilient and successful adults.
