Overview

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is an infectious virus that attacks the human immune system, making it unable to fight infections and diseases. It is one of the most serious health concerns of our time and can ultimately lead to AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome). HIV can be transmitted through contact with infected bodily fluids, such as blood, semen, and breast milk. With medical treatment and support, people living with HIV can live long, healthy and productive lives. Continued advances in research and treatment have greatly improved the outlook for people living with HIV. Prevention is the most effective way to fight HIV, and education and awareness are key components in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
