Overview

Metabolic Syndrome is a condition that is characterized by a set of medical conditions and risk factors that increase the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and diabetes. These conditions include increased blood pressure, abdominal obesity, high levels of triglycerides, low levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL), and elevated fasting blood sugar levels. Metabolic Syndrome is a major public health concern as it increases the risk for cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes, both of which are leading causes of death and disability worldwide. Treatment typically focuses on lifestyle changes, such as improving diet, increasing physical activity, and quitting smoking, as well as taking medications, such as statins and blood pressure medications, to reduce the risk of developing these complications.
